The lightest weight division that men can compete in is Flyweight with the UFC. The minimum weight requirement is 115lb (52.2kg), and the upper limit is 125lb (56.7kg).

The current UFC Men’s Flyweight champion is Alexandre Pantoja. He defeated Brandon Moreno to win the title at UFC 290 and successfully defended it against Brandon Royval at UFC 296.
Top Contenders
The top contenders for Pantoja’s title are anyone operating in the top five of the division. Moreno would be keen to win his title back, while Royval would certainly fancy another go at winning it. However, Amir Albazi is ranked joint second and could get the shot.
Men’s Bantamweight
Required Weight
The Men’s Bantamweight division in the UFC requires a minimum weight of 125lb (56.7kg) and a maximum weight of 135lb (63.2kg) available.

Aljamain Sterling was the man in the UFC Bantamweight division before Sean O’Malley came along and defeated him at UFC 292. But the top five in the division also contains former champions such as Henry Cejudo and Petr Yan, who will have their eyes on winning the belt back.

Alex Volkanovski is the current UFC Men’s Featherweight belt holder. He unsuccessfully attempted to win the UFC Men’s Lightweight title at UFC 294. Volkanovski won the Featherweight title in 2019 from Max Holloway.

Max Holloway is who you’d say is the top contender. But after losing the belt to Volkanovski, he’s failed in two attempts to win it back. Yair Rodriguez has also unsuccessfully fought for the title too. Brian Ortega, Arnold Allena and Illia Topura remain contenders.
Men’s Lightweight

The UFC Men’s Lightweight division requires fighters to weigh a minimum of 145lb (65.8kg). They are permitted to weigh up to a maximum of 155lb (70.3kg).

Islam Makhachev is currently the number one UFC Men’s Lightweight on the planet, and he also tops the pound-for-pound list too. The Russian won the title in 2022 when he battled it out with Charles Oliveira for the vacant belt. He’s also successfully defended the title twice, both times against Alexander Volkanovski, the Featherweight champion.
Top Contenders
There has been talk that Charles Oliveira will get the opportunity to fight for the Lightweight title once again. He’s number one in the rankings, and it’d be a fair decision in the eyes of many. But champion Makhachev himself appears to favour a bout with Justin Gaethje first. Either way, they’re the top contenders.
Men’s Welterweight

Figting at Welterweight in the UFC requires athletes to weigh between 155lb (70.3kg) and 170lb (77.1kg).

The Welterweight division is one of the most exciting in the UFC universe, and Leon Edwards currently reigns supreme. After winning the belt from number one contender Kamaru Usman by KO at UFC 278, Edwards again defended against Usman at UFC 286, winning by decision, before winning the same way against Colby Covington at UFC 296.
Top Contenders
Kamaru Usman is currently the top contender where the Welterweight division is concerned. But this is some Edwards has beaten twice in his last three outings, with Covington, rank three, the other victory. It could open the door for another bout against Belal Muhammad after their previous fight was declared a no-contest.
Men’s Middleweight

UFC Men’s Middleweights can weigh a minimum of 170lb (77.1kg) and up to a maximum of 185lb (83.9kg).

Neither Sean Strickland nor Israel Adesanya have fought since they met at UFC 293 in September, and the latter remains the top contender according to the rankings. But a flare-up at UFC 296 between Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis, where the pair came to blows, could lead to a fight in the octagon.

According to the rankings, Jamahal Hill leads the way where the top contenders for Pereira’s belt are concerned. However, on debut at the weight, Pereira won by split decision against Jan Blachowicz, and that could be a fight that gets revisited sometime in the future.

Jon Jones is officially the UFC Men’s Heavyweight champion after he made his debut at the weight at UFC 285 against Ciryl Gane and won by submission. However, Jones had a fight set with Stipe Miocic, which was cancelled as he picked up an injury. So, Tom Aspinall and Sergei Pavlovich faced off for the interim title. Aspinall won by KO in the first round. It’d be interesting to see how boxing odds look if Aspinall ever returned to the sport he once competed in.

Jon Jones remains the king of the heavyweights, but his torn pectoral tendon has really shaken things up. Tom Aspinall is the man in his stead and also the top contender. And everyone below him, including Ciryl Ganes, Sergei Pavlovich, Stipe Miocic and Curtis Blaydes, will fancy their chances at the interim or full championship.
Women’s Strawweight

There is no lower or minimum weight requirement for women competing at Strawweight in the UFC. However, they can only weigh a maximum of 115lb (52.2kg).

Carla Esparza is a former Women’s Strawweight champion and is ranked number one. She lost the title to Weili and is in a position to fight to win it back. Amanda Lemos is ranked well but recently lost to Weili. Yan Xionan, Tatiana Suarez and Jessica Andrade are other top contenders.
Women’s Flyweight

After their draw, a rematch between Alexa Grasso and Valentino Shevchenko looks likely to happen in the future, as the latter is the top contender. Rankings also position Erin Blanchfield, Manon Fiorot, Katlyn Chookagian and Jessica Andrade as contenders. It’ll be interesting to see the MMA betting odds when Grasso and Shevchenko meet again after their last bout.
Women’s Bantamweight
